Taipei (again)

I was in Taipei this week, and had an opportunity to visit Fort San Domingo in Tamsui. It is near the endpoint of one of the MRT lines, and takes about 40 min. to get there from the main train station (it's located 20 kilometers north-west of Taipei City). The Fort was build in 1629 by the Spanish, and occupied by the Dutch from 1641 till 1661 (when they got expelled by Koxinga, see earlier posts). It was then called "Hung Mao Cheng", which literally means "Fortress of the Red-haired Ones". In 1867, the British leased the building permanently from the Ching dynasty to use it as consulate.

And finally visited Taipei 101, the tallest building in the world.
